Yakutsk, Yakutia, Russia; 15 February 2020; Yakutsk is the largest city located in continuous permafrost and one of the largest that cannot be reached by road. Yakutsk is a major port on the Lena River. The temperature is hovering around minus 43C, leaving the city engulfed in an oppressive blanket of freezing fog. The inhuman temperatures and the winter fog cover are just part of daily life for its hardy residents.
