Rickshaw art is mainly an urban phenomenon and perhaps dates back to the 1950’s. Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh, a mega city, located on Buriganga River. Dhaka has an estimated population of more than 12 million people and 400,000 cycle-rickshaws plying its streets every day.
